In case you didn't hear already, it looks like TY has let yet another key recruit slip though the cracks. Brad Roussel has committed to Tulane. Now this is a hard working kid, maybe a little undersized and under recruited. But good enough for the Tennessee Vols to offer him a full ride. Below is an except regarding his decision and TY's handling of matter.
Roussel had been a University of Washington commitment until having an unfavorable official visit in Seattle last week that included a meeting with Huskies Coach Tyrone Willingham. Willingham told Roussel that Washington needed two additional weeks to decide whether it could honor the school's written official scholarship offer, Roussel's father Holenn said.
"Brad had a written commitment from Willingham," Holenn Roussel said. "But due to some new interest from some other linebackers on the West Coast, Willingham told Brad that he wanted him to wait two weeks and that they would talk further. Brad decided to look at other options."
So TY in his infinite wisdom decided to put off the kid in case he could get someone better. Now keep in mind that he is the 34th rated Linebacker prospect in the nation and was willing to move 2500 miles to play for the Huskies. And he had a written commitment. Good call, huh. Who is he going to get? Who wants to play for a lame duck coach anyway? This was EXACTLY the type of guy we needed to start laying the foundation for the Jim Mora Era, but no, he'll go to Tulane instead. And the worst part is, Tulane probably has a better football team then we do. And that is embarrassing. So chalk up another bad decision for our guy TY. And not only that, but exactly how ethical is it to give someone a written contract then re neg on it? Isn't TY supposed to be some ultra ethical, doesn't drink or cuss, goody-two-shoes? WOW!
