0-2 and Oklahoma Coming to Town

Ouch! BYU 28 - UW 27
Well, we probably caught a bad break on that call. But before everyone gets all caught up in the injustice of it, just keep in mind it only would have forced overtime. We may have still lost, especially with our kicking game being suspect. Once again, Jake Locker tried to single handily win the game for us. He accounted for nearly 80% of the Huskies total offense. If only Jake could have figured out how to pass to himself...

The real tragedy is that this was BYU we got so hyped up for. Hearken back for a moment to the great Don James era and the days of the Purple Rain (it wasn't really that long ago). Back then, BYU coming to town was just an EXPECTED victory. Sure, they might hang around for a half or so, but there was no doubt we would win the game by a couple touchdowns. Back then BYU was also often an (over)ranked team out of the WAC but never a credible threat to the U-Dub, especially at home. We NEVER expected to lose at home and always felt we could play with any Top10 team on the road. So how did beating BYU become a major accomplishment? Where is our swagger? Where is our pride? People were talking about beating BYU like it was equivalent to taking down Miami back in the day. It's frickin' BYU people! So this to me is the biggest problem with Ty Willingham. Over the past 4 years he has sucked whatever little bit of emotion and confidence we had left out of the program. For all his faults, Rick Neuheisal or even Jim Lambright had passion for the game and it showed. Who the hell knows what TY thinks or or is feeling...that constant look of indifference is intolerable and I personally think it has rubbed off on the rest of the team.
